A Lilac-Hued Spring Wedding with a Bumblebee Motif

Katie and Jason tied the knot on a bright, fresh day in late April with their nearest and dearest, an intimate gathering focused on those who are most important to them. Lilac was the through-color, and a bumblebee motif— symbolic of new beginnings— carried through the details.

Katie and Jason got ready for their day at their home with their families and some very close friends and Katie’s parents’ corgi, Ruby. (Katie and Jason’s two dogs, Atlas & Olive, spent the day at daycare— too much excitement!— but their faces were present in the custom napkins at the reception.) Katie wore a dress by Brides by Young and accessorized with heirloom jewelry. She packed all her accessories into a personalized keepsake trunk by Petite Keep, including their trio of rings and his-and-hers wedding day fragrances by Tiffany. Jason had a bow tie by Gucci, and Katie completed the look by surprising him with matching cufflinks. They exchanged love notes before departing separately for their ceremony.

The ceremony was held at the Ruins at Holliday Park. Decor was minimal— some beautifully arranged flowers by Oberer’s Flowers, white chairs, and a unity candle— since the ruins themselves are striking enough to be a story all their own. Music was performed by Katie’s friend the violinist Gloria Eden Burca.

The Meridian has been Katie and Jason’s favorite spot to celebrate special occasions throughout their entire relationship, so they rented out the whole restaurant for the afternoon and joined their guests for a meal and celebration, plus dessert (white cake with raspberry compote or berry rosé cake with strawberry buttercream) by Classic Cakes.

Finally, they got in their decorated getaway car, and we finished the afternoon with some fun portraits back at their house. It was a fabulous day, and an absolute pleasure and privilege for me to get to tell this story for them. Katie was my very first assistant in my business, and, having known her for years, it was particularly special to get to be part of this day.
